How to Save Your Marriage from Infidelity

In order to tackle this growing menace, one has to first understand it in its fullest form. One will have to study where most divorces are taking place and the reasons thereof. A small amount of research will show that the rate of divorce in the developed parts of the world is facing an exorbitant increase and that the main culprit in the largest number of cases is infidelity.

Infidelity

Infidelity has been the bane of marriage since time immemorial. It was around even when the society was in its nascent stages. Infidelity is known to have rocked the boat of many famous marriages and destroyed a large number of happy families.

Remaining faithful to one’s spouse is one of the first vows taken at the time of wedding by the new couple. It is the cornerstone of married life. One takes the attentions of his or her spouse for granted and assumes that the other partner will remain responsible and not endanger the marriage by going astray.

Unfortunately that need not be the scenario. There can be a number of reasons for a person going astray. There are ups and downs in all marriages. The trick is to travel the road with as much support to each other as possible. If this is not done then things can go wrong.

Pressures of Married Life

A marriage has to cross numerous hurdles. Some of them are:

Financial: It may be that there is a great amount of financial trouble looming large on the horizons of the marriage. Even the everyday necessities may become difficult to provide for. In such a situation there is bound to be tension at home. This tension may become over consuming for some people. They may start for looking for solace outside of the married life. That can be one possible cause of an individual going adrift.

Behaviour Problem: If one individual becomes over demanding and starts to impinge on the individuality of his or her partner, then the scenario can be suffocating for the spouse who is at the receiving end. If the behaviour is not modified in time or is not dealt with effectively then again the marriage can get rocked.

Addictions: Addictions of any kind can disrupt the harmonious movement of life for both married partners. An addiction can be substance abuse or alcoholism or any other. If this kind of way of life is not put in check then it can be destructive not only for the person himself or herself but also for the married life and the family as a whole. Once again the suffering partner may be forced to look for support and succour outside of the marriage.

Nagging Partner: If one of the two partners is too dominating or nagging, it can become a source of irritant for the other partner. Constant nagging will also annoy the spouse endlessly. One must understand that in order to make the marriage work, such behavioural traits should be studiously avoided. All the constant demands and nagging will only work to decrease the interest of the spouse in remaining faithful and committed to the marriage.

Interfering Family: An excessive extent of interference from the family members can also cause disruptions in a comfortable and smooth functioning of the married life. In this scenario, if the affected partner does not get requisite support from his or her spouse, then he or she may feel bogged down from all sides. If such a situation arises then anyone who can provide a comforting shoulder to him or her will be a welcome change.

These are only some of the scenarios that can lead to a person seeking solace outside of the married life. It can easily lead to an episode of infidelity. It does not matter whether the infidelity is a short term fling or a long term affair. The issue of concern is that it can easily destroy marriage. It is best if both the partners avoid all the above mentioned situations.

They have to understand that in marriage their commitment to each other is meant to be absolute. They have to face the hurdles of financial hardships together. In marriage they have to walk together and one must avoid being too dominating or a nagging spouse. They must respect each others views and take all important decisions together. Addictions are anyhow to be avoided and if they exist then they are to be cured. Similarly if the other partner is facing problems from the family then his or her spouse should stand by him or her
